Congressman John Murtha passed away yesterday. Murtha was chair of the powerful House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, one of the heavyweight positions in the entire federal government. He was an old-timer, someone who was cast by the national media as a classic pork-barrel politician and good ol' boy in the way he doled out funds and favors.
